Dr. Rahul Singh Karki is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics with a distinguished academic background from India’s premier institutions. He earned his B.Sc. (Mathematics Hons.) from Shivaji College, University of Delhi, and his M.Sc. from IIT Kharagpur, securing a CGPA above 9.0 in both degrees. He completed his Ph.D. from IIT Bombay in 2025, supported by prestigious fellowships during his doctoral studies. 

His research focuses on modern algebra and its interdisciplinary connections, particularly in combinatorial and computational directions. As an educator, Dr. Karki is committed to building strong mathematical foundations for students while inspiring them to appreciate the value, structure, and beauty of mathematics. 

Work Experience

Dr. Karki joined UPES as an Assistant Professor in July 2024, shortly after submitting his Ph.D. thesis at IIT Bombay. His academic experience includes teaching, research, and mentoring students in advanced mathematical subjects.

Combinatorial Commutative Algebra | Algebraic Graph Theory | Commutative Algebra | Algebraic Geometry. 

Teaching Philosophy

Dr. Karki’s teaching philosophy is rooted in encouraging students to ask fundamental questions about a subject’s relevance and significance. He believes curiosity is central to meaningful learning and welcomes all questions in the classroom. 

By emphasizing core principles, he provides students with a solid conceptual foundation that enables them to develop independent insights and deeper understanding. His ultimate goal is to inspire learners to engage deeply with mathematics, appreciate its inherent beauty, and recognize its value in enriching both their intellect and everyday lives.
